About Me

Mother - Maternity Nurse -International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

It’s been quite a journey to become a private IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant).

IBCLC is the gold-standard professional qualification in breastfeeding, globally recognised.

I first became a breastfeeding counsellor, completed more than 130 hours advanced training in breastfeeding and lactation, logged 1,000 hours working with breastfeeding mothers & babies and completed a 4 hour exam.

Nanny Career

I’ve loved working with families ever since I was 12 when my sister and I began monopolising the babysitting scene in our home village in Sussex. My studies in child development and psychology lead me to a 20 year nanny career from the beaches of Sydney to the hotels of Las Vegas to doing hand-stands in Regents Park.

Became a mother

I became mother in 2012 and immediately became fascinated with breastfeeding. My first son was 10 weeks old when a breastfeeding volunteer cycled to my house and gently solved all my problems with a few tweaks - I’ll be forever grateful! I decided right then I wanted to work with breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding volunteer

I trained with a national breastfeeding charity, learning to offer independent, evidence-based information to support parents in their choice to breastfeed. Pre-covid I volunteered in the community. Now on the post natal ward at a central London hospital where I never know who I will meet and what the day will bring-it’s fascinating work.

Though the PPE is a challenge!

Baby-Thrive is born

Studying at postgraduate level with The Centre for Breastfeeding Education and Research has qualified me to provide accurate, current and evidence-based information about breastfeeding as an IBCLC registered lactation consultant. Working with families to get breastfeeding off to the best start or to smooth any bumps in the road when they arise is so rewarding. It’s refreshing to be the person who really has the time to listen and support when families need solutions that work for them.
